PARADES AND TRADITIONS IN SHKODRA

The heart of the carnival took place across key locations in Shkodra. The Nënë Tereza Square hosted the traditional caravan parade, while the pedestrian area was alive with vibrant costumes and performances. The burning of the scarecrow added a symbolic and dramatic touch to the festival, representing the welcoming of a new year. Local bars and restaurants along the pedestrian area became hubs of festivity as Venetian-inspired costumes paraded the streets, fostering a dynamic connection between artists, businesses, and visitors.

TWO-NIGHT LIGHTSHOW SPECTACLE

The carnival featured a dazzling two-night lightshow that became the highlight of the event. On the first night, stunning art projections reflected the vibrant themes of the carnival, lighting up the streets with vivid colors and dynamic patterns. On the second night, projections inspired by Marubi—Shkodra’s iconic photography—celebrated the region’s cultural heritage through a breathtaking visual display. The lightshow combined tradition with modern technology, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.

COLLABORATING WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS AND ARTISTS

The municipality venue was the hub for workshops and artistic programs, bringing together students and local artists to collaborate on creative projects. These workshops fostered a sense of community by encouraging participants to express themselves through art, performance, and culture. This focus on creativity and collaboration was at the heart of what made the Carnival of Shkodra such a unique and inclusive event.
The burning of the scarecrow was my favorite moment. It’s such a powerful tradition, and it felt amazing to be part of something so meaningful.
